The Lonoke High School Swim team has had a great season this year, and are looking ahead to their conference and State swim meets this month. Though many may be unfamiliar with swim, one of the best aspects of swim is that your biggest competition is yourself. Each swimmer is always working hard to cut their time and make that next swim their best swim. It takes both physical toughness and mental strength and endurance each time they hit the water. The Jackrabbits begin conference meet week ranked #1 for the 4A-1A Central Conference. This team may be small in numbers, but they are stacked with talent, ability, and purpose. The team is led by senior Eli Dollinger, two sophomores, Kanon Canamore and Karr Graham, and the two new freshmen, Noah Johnson and Harold Coronado. Coach DensonĀ added “I am confident they will be able to maintain their #1 status at Wednesday’s Conference meet.” The Conference meet is scheduled for Wednesday, February 7th at the River Center in Benton. The meet begins at 5;30pm.
Beyond Conference meet, each swimmer will be entered in multiple events for the State Swim and Dive Championship Meet on Saturday, February 24 to be held in Russellville. Team Captain, Senior Eli Dollinger, will swim his final high school event as anchor on the 400 free relay at this meet. This is a great bunch to watch, and we hope Jackrabbit fans will come out and support if they can. If you happen to see any of these athletes, please give them a congrats on their amazing season and some encouragement to finish strong.
