Lindsey Hart

The Lonoke wrestling team has made history! On February 15 the Lonoke wrestling team went to regionals. Four of the Lonoke Wrestlers qualified for State! Junior, Chauncey Johnson, placed first in the 285 lbs weight division; Sophomore, Cam Hooten, placed 1st in the 120 lbs weight division; sophomore, Cade Norton, placed 3rd in the 190 lbs weight division;  Sophomore Donovan Colton placed 4th in the 175 lbs weight division. This qualifies all four to attend state on Friday, February 24 at the Jack Stephens Center at UALR. Chauncey Johnson states, “The feeling I got when I realized I won it felt good. Being a first-year wrestler and winning it made me feel good. It feels surreal to me because I wasn’t expecting to make it in my first year.”

Stephanie Price, the Lonoke Youth Wrestling coach, has had a dream to bring wrestling to Lonoke High School for some time. With Coach Norton’s help, this dream became reality this year. The team began its season in December and it concludes this month. If you would like to attend the state tournament and support these young men you must buy tickets through https://gofan.co/app/events/896665?schoolId=AAA. We are so proud and excited for these wrestlers and all that is to come.
