Rabbits Run Up the Score Against the Riverview Raiders

Lonoke wins first conference game of the season 60 to 20 against the Riverview Raiders.

On Friday, September 23rd, 2022, the Lonoke Jackrabbits took control over the Riverview Raiders in the first conference game of the season. Lonoke showed out in the first quarter with a score of 20 to 7. The first half ended with a score of Lonoke 27 to 14. In the third quarter, Lonoke scored 20 points and Riverview scored 6 points. The Lonoke Jackrabbits won 60 to 20 over the Riverview Raiders. The Jackrabbits played a very exciting game.

Lonoke had many highlights Friday night. Sophomore, Tanner Starks, caught the first two passes while playing offense. He scored a touchdown in the first quarter. Tanner stated, “…we ran to the ball well, we tackled well…” Head football coach, Chris Norton, expressed, “I think he’s another one of those sophomores we have in the program that is going to develop into a really good player here for us.” Coach Norton mentioned that the team played really well on the offensive line. Sophomore, Marquez Jackson Jr., played a great overall game on offense and defense. He had a 14.4 yards per carrying offensive average and scored two times. Marquez had many impressive tackles. Coach Norton described Marquez as ¨explosive¨ Friday night. Senior, Cody Amato, ended the game with a total of 13 tackles. Senior, Landon Jones, scored some touchdowns and got over 100 receiving yards on offense. Lonoke played a very impressive game on Friday night. Norton states, ¨I think we´ve got some momentum going – we´re executing better as a team, playing harder, doing little things at a higher level than we were earlier in the season.¨ The team is already in preparation for this week´s game against Harding Academy. Landon Jones mentioned, ¨We will study a ton of film and have a good practice time to try and stimulate what they can do.¨ Harding Academy is a very disciplined team, but Coach Norton believes, ¨…we have a good plan, we´ve got talented kids and we´re excited to get after them on Friday.¨ Lonoke plays the Harding Academy Wildcats Friday, September 30th, 2022 at the James B. Abraham Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The Purple Pit theme is western. In honor of Paycn Collins, an LES student who is battling cancer, the Purple Pit is also asking that people wear yellow or gold for childhood cancer.
