The Rabbits Stomp on CAC
The Jackrabbits came out with a victory against CAC to start off the 2022 football season!
August 30, 2022
The Rabbits had a great game with a score of 41-13 on Friday at CAC. “We did a lot of good things Friday,” stated Coach Norton, head football coach. “Defensively, I felt like we did a great job applying pressure to CAC’s quarterback and making him uncomfortable. We allowed less than 100 yards passing. Cody Amato, Devin Osburn, and Latrell Burnett really shined on that side of the ball. Offensively, I was proud of how we ran the ball. I think you have to run to win, especially late in the season and we showed we could do that on Friday.”
Coach Norton is taking this game and using it as a reflection of how they should practice for next week’s game. “We need to continue to improve in pass protection and clean up our pass game, but those are all correctable things. Melbourne is going to be very well coached, they play a really physical style of football and we need to see that. Our focus this week is going to be cleaning up some things in pass protection, our passing game, and creating some depth overall.” Norton continues, “We’re also working hard to continue to improve on special teams, where we were up and down a bit against CAC last week.”
Cody Amato had a great game Friday, as Coach Norton pointed out. “I feel good about my gameplay Friday. Our team had some mess ups, but overall we played really well. We got ahead fast and that helped keep our momentum up.” Amato said. “Going into next week’s game, I hope to shut off Melbourne’s offense.” Amato is looking forward to making it far in the playoffs this year.
The Rabbits take on Melbourne this Friday, September 2nd, at James B. Abraham Stadium. Be there dressed in your Hawaiian attire ready to cheer on the boys. Go Jackrabbits!
